The portrait of an old man (filmmaker's grandfather) is altered in ever-increasingly abstract ways. Shot on 16mm film, printed with a Model J printer, and hand-printed, the portrait goes from oddly recognizable to barely recognizable as images of meat, faces, ears go in and out of focus and frame. How do we recognize and memorize those we know best? Was it really them at all?
